It all started in 1978 when Dion himself — a first-generation New Mexican with a passion for bold flavors and community — opened a small pizza counter on Montgomery Blvd. The dions philosophy was simple: use the freshest local ingredients, make every crust by hand, and treat every customer like family.
Word spread fast. Lines grew longer. What started as a single counter became Albuquerque's most trusted name in dion's pizza. Decades later, that same commitment to quality drives everything we do — from our hand-stretched dough to our house-made sauces crafted fresh every morning.

The First Slice
Dion opens a small pizza counter on Montgomery Blvd NE. Hand-stretched dough and a secret tomato sauce recipe win over the neighborhood immediately.
1985
dions Becomes a Full Restaurant
Growing demand leads to expanding the original counter into a full sit-down restaurant. Seating for 80 guests and a expanded dions menu launches to rave reviews.
1993
Second Location Opens
The success of the original Dion's inspires a second location in Northeast Albuquerque. Both spots quickly become community staples for families and pizza lovers.
2002
Regional Expansion
Dion's grows to six locations across Albuquerque and Santa Fe, bringing the same dion's pizza quality and handcrafted approach to more New Mexico communities.
